Welcome to First-Year Students at IMEL

On Monday, April 7, 2026, the new first-year students at the Institute of Management, Economics and Law (IMEL) were warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Roland Menges.

Amid spring-like temperatures in Clausthal-Zellerfeld, the students—accompanied by their student mentors, known as the “Bärchenführer:innen”—were led into the event hall. This time-honored tradition helps students ease into their studies and fosters an open and personal atmosphere right from the start.

After a brief introduction to IMEL and its areas of focus by Prof. Menges, things got interactive: As in previous years, he led the popular “Unterhausdebatte.” In this format, students engage in direct conversation not only with one another but also with faculty and staff.

The focus was on questions about the program, the institute, and life in Clausthal-Zellerfeld. Active participation sparked a lively discussion that provided the new students with guidance in an entertaining way while also fostering initial connections.

The event once again highlighted what sets Clausthal University of Technology apart: close mentoring, a personal approach, and direct interaction between students and faculty—going far beyond traditional teaching formats.

IMEL warmly welcomes all new students and wishes them a successful start to their studies and an exciting time at Clausthal University of Technology.
