IBER participates in the TEN.efzn annual meeting
Over 160 researchers engage in interdisciplinary discussions on the transformation of the energy system
Immediately following the Lower Saxony Energy Days, the annual meeting of the research program “Transforming the Energy System Lower Saxony” (TEN.efzn) took place in Hanover on December 3 and 4, 2025. In this research program, six research platforms are working toward the common goal of strategically and internationally strengthening and advancing energy research in Lower Saxony in order to develop sustainable solutions for the technological and social challenges of the transformation. The annual conference emphasized interdisciplinarity as the key to linked technical, natural and social science research on transformation, with a focus on exchange between the research platforms and the high-caliber scientific advisory board.
The IBER takes part in the research program within the interdisciplinary research platform “Trustworthy Digitization of Safety-Critical Energy Systems.” A particular focus is currently put on legal issues related to local supply constellations, which are discussed under the keywords “Kundenanlage” and “energy sharing” and raise highly practical research questions for our future energy system. What advantages do local supply constellations offer for the future energy system? To what extent should they enjoy further advantages beyond the supply of low-cost electricity? In close interdisciplinary exchange with other researchers, IBER is working not only to shed light on these questions from a legal perspective, but also to examine them in conjunction with network and information technology, and sociological considerations.
